Pre-Departure Orientations

Auckland Predeparture Orientation

Auckland Predeparture Orientation

One of the JETAA Association’s role is to help prepare the new JETs who are about to leave our home countries for their own JET adventure. The Japanese Embassies and Consulates round the world may solicit the assistance of the JETAA Chapter Committee members who often arrange a Pre-Departure orientation for the outgoing JETs.

There are many approaches to a Pre-Departure Orientation, but the main aim is to make sure that the JETs leaving from your area feel prepared to enjoy a productive and successful time in Japan as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT), Coordinator for International Relations (CIR) or Sports Exchange Advisor (SEA).

We have collected a number of resources to assist you if you are new to Pre-Departure orientations and would like some ideas that have worked for other Chapters (please note that these are adaptable by your chapter, but look out for things specific to your Country, Chapter or area, and amend accordingly). Thank you to the Chapters who have contributed, and if you have any other templates, documents, presentations, handbooks that you would like to share with Chapters from around the world, please send them to us so we can share them with other Chapters.
